Seneca Selects Firm to Design New Casino
When the Seneca
Nation of Indians decided they were building a new casino in Buffalo,
they wanted something original. Now, after a nationwide design search
organized by the Seneca Erie Gaming Corp., the reputable Thalden-Boyd
Architects were select to do the job. Thalden-Boyd has an impressive
background in casino design.
Before
officials of the Seneca Nation give the final okay on the design,
Seneca Erie Gaming will work very closely with Thalden-Boyd on several
options. The casino will be a 100,000 square-foot structure. Plans
are flexible. The final casino may or may not incorporate the HO Oats
grain mills.
John Pasqualoni,
Seneca Erie Gaming CEO and president shared his hopes for the casino,
“It is our intention for Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino to boast a
signature design that fits in well with what we have created in
Niagara Falls and in Salamanca, yet stands out and draws attention to
downtown Buffalo.” He adds, “We will be working diligently over the
next few weeks to move the design process forward.”
Many famous
casino structures can be credited to Thalden-Boyd, including the
Venetian Resort façade work in Las Vegas and the New Mexico Hilton
Santa Fe/Buffalo Thunder Resort. The firm’s Indian nation tribal
casino résumé includes the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and Ho-Chunk
Nation of Wisconsin.
The casino is
supposed to premier fully loaded. It is being planned with room for
2,200 slot machines, 50 table games, a list of fine restaurants, and a
garage equipped to hold 2,500 vehicles of all sizes.
The hundreds of
new jobs that will be created during the construction of the casino
will keep the workers well employed. The casino must be completed by
December 8, 2007, in keeping with the strict guidelines of the 2002
compact signed between Governor George Pataki and the Seneca Nation.
The completed casino will create jobs for approximately 1,000
employees.
